Little Scientists Magazine N.11

Two Australian mathematicians believe that they have finally worked out the purpose of a clay tablet which was discovered in the early 1900s in modern day Irag. According to them, the columns and rows of markings made in the wet clay are a tool which was used for solving problems in trigonometry, a branch of mathematics dealing with the relationships between the sides and angles of triangles. This tablet is remarkable, not only because it shows that trigonometry was used long ago, but also because this trigonometric table is more accurate than any that are available today!
